Job lost it.
In just four verses at the end of the very first chapter, Job lost all his kids, all his livestock, and all but three of his servants. But, while he mourned, he did not accuse God of causing it (Job 1:22, NKJV).
Why not?
He knew God is good. He knew not to take the Lord’s name “in vain” – that is, not to give God credit for things He didn’t say or do.
In Hebrews 4:2 Paul told the church the word (“logos;” not “rhema”) they heard did not profit them because those who heard did not mix what they heard with faith. In the very next chapter, Paul told them they should have been more mature in their faith, but their perception, understanding, judgment had not been “trained by practice.”
Job’s faith was strong because he practiced exercising it.
Like muscles, faith will atrophy if not used. But one of the most powerful verses in Scripture is “I believe. Help my unbelief.” The Lord can use faith the size of a mustard seed to move mountains. And then faith grows when you see what the Lord can do with your faith.
Have faith? Use it.
